Velenosi (Marche)

Velenosi winery was established in 1984 thanks to the strong will of two young entrepreneurs, Angela and Ercole Velenosi. In 2005 a new partner joined the company, Mr. Paolo Garbini, and the company became Velenosi Srl.

​Angela Velenosi is no doubt the key person behind the Velenosi Vini success, being involved in most of the activities of the winery since its beginning. She was only 20 years old when she started this adventure and thanks to her dynamism and sense of business she managed to bring the company to being one of the biggest family owned winery in Marche region.
In 2014 she was elected President of the Consorzio di Tutela Vini Piceni (the association of wineries of the province) and in 2015 she was chosen as Testimonial for the Marche region at the Expo in Milan due to her life-long commitment to quality wineproduction.

The heart of the company is in Ascoli Piceno, a city rich of history in the Marche region which dates back to 3 millennia. This town is located in the center of Italy about 25 km away from the Adriatic Sea.
The vineyards of the company lay on the hills at about 200-300 meters above sea level, which are the outline of the wonderful valley of the river Tronto. Here the soil is mainly composed of clay and limestone, suitable for the production of high quality wine.
Besides the four vineyards located in Ascoli Piceno, Castorano, Monsampolo and Castel di Lama, the company also owns vineyards in the municipality of San Marcello, in the province of Ancona and one in Ancarano, in the Abruzzo Region. The total planted area amounts to 148 hectares

Since the beginning Velenosi wines have gained a great success within the specialized Press, being reviewed in the most well-known national and international magazines such as: Wine Spectator, Robert Parker, Decanter, Gambero Rosso, Luca Maroni, A.I.S. and many others.
Our two top reds (Roggio del Filare and Ludi) have been included in the last 3 years within the best 100 wines of Italy, a special classification by Classlife, which sums all the points and awards from the 6 most important Italian wine guides.
Our winemaker consultants are Attilio Pagli, included by Decanter (July 2015 edition) among the best 30 winemakers in the world, and Cesare Ferrari for the sparkling wines (both Charmat and Champenois methods), having worked for more than 30 years with the most important producers in Franciacorta area.
