Wine satisfies the senses and gives meaning to our history. We are an island within an island, a protected and private enclave where, way back in 1932, thirteen winemakers joined together and founded one of the oldest wineries in Sardinia, Cantina di Calasetta. Their goal was to promote native Sardinian grape varieties, particularly Carignano del Sulcis, which thrives here on the sand. Since then, this commitment has given meaning to our lives and strength to our union. Some of our vineyards are planted on the sandy soils typical of the island of Sant'Antioco. The high sand content allows us to grow ungrafted vines, using their original roots, without using Virginia creeper rootstock. This ensures a unique sensory profile for the grapes and creates ideal conditions for the vines to yield excellent yields even at a very advanced age. In the neighboring area of "Basso Sulcis", the vineyards are planted on calcareous clay soils, very close to the sea and continuously exposed to sea winds.
